December 16, 2016, Port Jervis, NY - Anna S Kuhl Elementary School kindergarten students collected mittens in December for those less fortunate families within our community. The mittens were then donated to the Salvation Army at a small ceremony held in school.
The "Mitten Tree" was set up in the display case at the school and decorated with over 100 pairs of mittens from our kindergarten students, their families, and staff members. The students donated the 157 collected pairs of mittens to our local Salvation Army. Staff from the Port Jervis Salvation Army visited the school to thank all of the children for their hard work. The Salvation Army also brought their "kettle" to the school and many of the students brought in change to put in the kettle.
The Salvation Army also stop at each kindergarten classroom and explained how important the Salvation Army is, what is does to help our community and how all of the children in our school have helped. Special thank-you to our local Salvation Army officers for taking the extra time to visit our school. Happy Holidays from ASK!
