The Alternative Education Program is an opportunity for middle and high school students and teachers to work together in a more individualized setting. The program allows for a flexibility of instruction, and enables teachers to include character development and social consciousness in their interaction with their students.
ARCH focuses on helping at risk high school students achieve their high school diploma. Classes are offered in the four core subjects: English, Math, Social Studies and Science. Physical Education is also offered.
The program is held Monday-Thursday from 1:50 PM to 5:30 PM at Port Jervis High School.
The goal is to return every student in the ARCH program to the regular high school program upon successful obligation of their ARCH obligations.
ACES was started during the 2012-13 school year to maintain more of a connection with middle school students attending the alternative education program. The program is housed at Port Jervis Middle School under the supervision of middle school administrators, guidance counselors and teachers.
Classes are held Monday - Thursday, 1:40 PM - 4:30 PM.
