Summer 2010 Renovation Projects
This summer district maintenance
workers and contractors worked diligently to improve the quality
of our students' learning environment. The following pictures
highlight the major summer improvements.
Voice over Internet Phone System

Capital
Project Work: Over 10,000 feet of cable was installed in Port Jervis Schools
for the new VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phone system. Once the new classroom phones (pictures left) are
activated,
parents will have direct access to their children's teacher. |
School Safety & Security

The Federal COPS Grant
provided funded for the installation of additional video
surveillance cameras in all schools. |
Capital Project Work:
Wiring was installed for all of the new security
cameras. |
Capital Project Work:
New keyless entry system was installed in all school
buildings. |

High School

Work: New student lockers and interior doors. |

No Cost Replacement-
The contractor who installed the Acrovyn panels in the
High School main hallway replaced the faulty panels at
no charge to the district.

Work: New dust collection systems for the wood shop
(left) and
technology classes. |

Maintenance:
Access to Chase Stadium was improved by the installation
of new walkways and a retaining wall. Additional parking
spaces were created to provide a new Student
Pick-up/Drop-off area adjacent to Chase Field.

Middle School

Exterior Maintenance -The school entrance was enhanced with the addition
of new garbage cans and wooden benches made by the
Buildings & Grounds staff. |
Hallways

Maintenance: Used
special epoxy gray speckled paint to
restore old tiles
and installed corner guards.
(Lockers
were repainted several summers ago.)

Gymnasium
 |

Capital
Project Work: Installed
new wooden floor, bleachers and wall
pads. Painted walls. Replaced bleachers. |
Hamilton
Bicentennial Elementary School

Maintenance: Refinished
the HBE gymnasium wooden floor,
installed new wall pads and painted walls. |
Building Maintenance

The
storage area in the gym
received an overhaul. |
Maintenance
staff spit-shinned
the floors. |
Parking Lot

Capital
Project Work: The school parking lot
was black-topped. New lines
were painted for car
and bus parking. |
Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School

Maintenance:
Ceiling tiles were replaced. |
Capital Project: New walkway was installed at
the Library entrance. |
