Superintendent's Fitness Challenge
Working with the elementary physical education teachers,
Superintendent John Xanthis encouraged students to increase
their fitness levels by participating in the 2012 Delaware River
Walk/Run. All elementary students who participated received a
Superintendent's Fitness Challenge Certificate. Xanthis
presented the certificates to the participants during special
events held at both elementary schools on May 8.
The results were
tremendous.
ASK
Elementary School:
The Fit Kids Committee hosted a "Healthy Breakfast" for all of
its Delaware River Run participants. The Superintendent attended
the breakfast, expressing great pride in the students as he
presented the Fitness Challenge certificates. ASK
usually averages around 30 teachers and students. This year, the
school beat its goal of 100 for the Superintendent's Challenge
with 102 teachers and students participating: 87 students and 15
teachers.
Congratulations to the following ASK students for placing in
their age categories: Harry Tomasi (1st), Asher Pelton (3rd) and
Z'Nada Bridges (3rd), and Chris Sicina, who won the bike raffle.
Bicentennial
Elementary School:
The HBE PTA hosted a Pizza Party for the 43 students who
participated in this year's Delaware River
Run. The Superintendent joined the students for
lunch. Afterwards, he personally recognized every student,
presenting each of them with their Fitness Challenge
certificate. Following the award ceremony, the physical
education teachers and students enjoyed
free play time in the gym.
Congratulations to the two HBE students who placed in the
Delaware River Run in their age categories: Jillian Shearer
(1st) and Dezel Vilsaint (3rd).
