BUS RULES AND REGULATIONS
The school district considers the school bus an "extension" of
the classroom. To ensure the safety of everyone riding on the
bus, students should conduct themselves according to the
established standards of classroom behavior. Parents are asked
to help bus drivers maintain safety and order by reviewing the
Bus Rules and Regulations with their children.
CHANGES TO ASSIGNED BUS ROUTS
•
One-time change
(Must be for five consecutive days)
Effective September 2009, the district will no longer approve
one-day changes to bus routes. The decision to prohibit students
from switching buses was made for safety reasons. Last year, the
number of same-day requests for afternoon bus changes reached
nearly 20 per day. This made it increasingly difficult for
transportation and school staff to track the whereabouts of
those who were switching buses. To ensure our students' safety,
the district must be accountable at all times for the
location of children using the school transportation system.
For this reason, all bus route assignments must be consistent.
In emergency situations - such as family illness or out
of town travel - parents can send a written request to change
their child's bus route for five or more consecutive days. The request
must be sent to the child's principal for approval. Two days
notice is required to allow proper processing of the request.
•
Permanent changes
If a child's bus assignment needs to change permanently - when
his or
her family moves to a new home, for instance, - the
child's school office
should be notified far in advance.
Permanent bus change requests take
at least three days to
process. The school office will notify a child's
parent(s) once
the change has been approved. Until the request is
processed,
children will not be permitted to ride on a new bus route.
Students who walk to school are not permitted to ride buses.

Childcare providers/Babysitters
Special arrangements can be made with the Transportation
Department to have your child picked up or dropped off from a
childcare
provider. Families must choose a sitter who lives within their
designated school attendance zone. Please note that the sitter
arrangements can be a.m., p.m., or both, but they must be the same
every day. We cannot transport to different locations on different
days. Only three babysitter changes per year will be processed. To
download a copy of the required request form,
LATE BUSES
The school district offers a
late bus run for High School and Middle School students who
participate in eligible after-school activities. Students who
want to ride the late bus must receive permission in advance
from a building administrator. All late buses depart from the
High School at approximately 3:55 p.m. Middle School students
are transported to the High School at 3:30 p.m. The buses do not
make all regularly-assigned stops.
